Here are some press quotes about the Brahms/Schönberg CD:
"The 'superb' Kuss Quartet 'bring enormous finesse to this music [Schoenberg 2nd Quartet]. Soprano Mojca Erdmann's 'exquisite pearly sound is just right for Schoenberg's tranced intensity "I feel the air from another planet" she sings, and we believe her..."
The Daily Telegraph
"And that is how they sound in these outstanding performances, both characterised by the same thoughtful lyricism and intelligent, high-quality playing.(...) The way that the quartet accompanies soprano Mojca Erdmann in the final two movements is also outstanding..."
The Strad Magazine
"Jana Kuss' sound is irresistible..(....) Well chosen, lyrically and musically so that the recital as a whole is intriguing, really well thought through..."
BBC Record Review
"Violist William Coleman, duetting with cellist Mika Hakhnazaryan, produces an unashamedly gorgeous third movement, just as "amorous and affectionate", as Brahms described it.(....)Wit lights up this account, every joke perfectly timed, every nuance explored."
BBC Music Magazine
"I love the way the Kuss Quartet bring the (4th) movement to a joyous close with a rhythmically buoyant flourish.(...)
The Kuss Quartet's performance is technically superb, deeply felt and empathetic. Intonation and ensemble is faultless. Mojca Erdmann's intelligent performance is both potent and subtle."
We are very happy to announce that our new album has been released end of October 2016. The combination of Schönberg's String Quartet No 2 and Brahms-Songs with the wonderful Mojca Erdmann and Brahms' String Quartet No 3 B Major op. 67 is working very well. Many thanks to the team at rbb kulturradio and our label Onyx Classics for the pleasant collaboration as usual!
A review from the Sunday Times says the following about our Wigmore Hall concert on the 7th of April:
"Yet the highlight of my musical week was something else. The Berlin-based Kuss Quartet, in an intriguing Wigmore Hall recital that interleaved four of Birtwistle’s Nine Movements for String Quartet with parts of Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross, Op 51, gave the most tonally resplendent and brilliantly articulated account of Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” quartet that I think has come my way. It was an immense experience." (Paul Driver)
After 14 years at the Impresariat Simmenauer, to whom we are very grateful for the creative and productive time together, we are looking forward to being represented by the Konzertdirektion Dr. Rudolf Goette/Angelika Jacob in Hamburg - effective immediately. We are happy to continue our path together with Angelika Jacob, who strongly shaped our first 8 years while she was at Simmenauer’s.
We are happy to announce a new partnership with Pirastro Strings!
